For most people: no, not if the service costs under $1,500 for a one-off purchase.

If you have the highest level of host support (Tier 4), the line is $500 instead. Purchases above it need prior approval from your host. That is a conversation, not a barrier.

Whatever tier you are on, some things need a talk with your host first regardless of price: equipment, overseas travel, and complementary therapies.

When in doubt, ask your host before you buy. That is what they are there for.
