Privacy
How privacy works at Neuro Support.
What Jamie holds today, what he can and can't see, and how the Neuro Support app handles your words. For clients, family members, support coordinators, NASCs and funders. If you'd rather read a one-page funder summary, see the funder page.
The rule
What's yours stays yours.
Everything else on this page starts here.
What you share with Jamie is held in confidence. He doesn't pass it on without your consent, except in the few cases set out under Honest limits below. He doesn't sell it, and he only uses it to support you.
What Neuro Support holds today
Right now it's a short list.
The Neuro Support app isn't open yet. Today Neuro Support is Discovery Calls and Support Sessions, so what Jamie holds about you is small.
- Discovery Calls. Free, 15 to 30 minutes.
- Bookings. The booking page asks for your name, your email, and a line on what you'd like to work on. Every booking is a request Jamie confirms by email.
- The waitlist. Your email, plus a name and a line about what you're hoping for if you choose to add them. It's used only to tell you when the app opens. Email Jamie and he'll take you off.
- Support Sessions. Jamie keeps what he needs to support you and to invoice you: who you are, when you met, and how long for.
- Invoices. Your name, the session dates, the hours and the rate. What you talked about doesn't go on an invoice.
In a Support Session
Jamie sees what you show him. Nothing else.
In person or online, Jamie only sees what you choose to show him or tell him. If you put something on screen, he sees it while it's there.
He can't see into your phone, your email or your accounts. He won't ask for your passwords.
If you want help with something private, you decide how much to share. You can stop at any point, and you don't have to say why.
The Neuro Support app
Your Agent runs on your phone. Nobody at Neuro Support can read what's in it.
You can see all of it, take all of it, and delete all of it, any time you like. The rest of this part is the detail behind that. It's written so you can check it, not so it sounds good.
- You can see everything in it.
- You can take it with you.
- You can delete it.
The app isn't open yet. This part says how it works, so nothing about it is a surprise. Want to hear when it opens? Join the waitlist.
What lives on your phone
Everything you put in stays on the phone.
What you put down, your pages, your conversations with your Agent, your projects, your timers, and any photos you show it.
Your phone's own lock protects it. The app doesn't add a second password, because for a lot of us a second password is one more thing to lose.
What leaves your phone, and why
The words for one job go to the model, and come back.
Your Agent can't think on its own. When it does a job for you, the words for that one job go to a model made by a company called Anthropic, in the United States. The model answers, and the words aren't kept by us.
What goes depends on the job. Sorting what you put down sends those things. Answering a question sends the question and your pages. Talking in the thread sends the conversation and anything you've shown it, photos included. The morning brief sends your open items and your page titles, not the pages themselves.
Anthropic keeps what it receives for up to 30 days, then deletes it. If its safety checks flag something, it can keep that for up to two years. It never uses your words to train anything. That's in our agreement with them.
When you talk instead of type, the recording goes to a speech service to be turned into words. Today that's Deepgram, run on Cloudflare's servers. It's set so nothing is kept and nothing is used for training. Names you've taught your Agent go with the recording so they come out spelled right.
Nothing goes anywhere until you've said yes. The first time your Agent is ready, it shows you how it works and asks. If you say not now, everything you put down still saves on your phone, and nothing leaves it.
Neuro Support's own relay sits in between your phone and those services. It passes your words through and doesn't write them down. We've turned its logging off, so a problem shows up as a number, never as what someone said.
The locked copy
We hold the locked copy and not the key.
So you don't lose everything if something happens to your phone, the app keeps a copy of what you put down on our server. It's locked on your phone before it goes, with a key that stays on your phone. Nobody at Neuro Support can open it, and neither can anyone who got into our server.
The key stays on your phone and isn't backed up yet. If you lose your phone, what was on it is gone. Export now and then.
What we can see on our server, about you, is numbers: how much your Agent was used each day, and how many minutes of voice. That's how the allowance works. It isn't what you said.
Your calendar, the free app, and what your Agent does with what it learns
Read on the phone. Nothing on the free app goes to the model.
- Your calendar. If you let the app read your phone's calendar, it reads it on the phone and never changes it. If you paste a private calendar address instead, our relay fetches it when the app asks and keeps nothing.
- The free app. It does what it can on the phone alone: timers, alarms, your calendar, capture, and sorting by rules you set. Nothing goes to the model on the free app.
- Neuro Agent. The paid tier. It's the Agent that thinks and plans with you, which is what sends words to the model as described above. You pay Apple, and Apple tells us you've subscribed. We never see your card.
- What it keeps. It asks before keeping anything about your health, your relationships or your money. It drafts messages, and you send them. It never sends anything to anyone on its own.
- On a hard day. If you say something that sounds like you're not safe, it shows you 1737. It doesn't call anyone.
- Sharing with a support worker. Not in this version. When it comes, sharing is your choice, page by page. You'll see who's in and when they last looked, and you can take someone out with one tap. Nobody is in by default, Jamie included. If you're already a Neuro Support client, what Jamie holds about you from Support Sessions is above. The app doesn't change that.
See it, take it, delete it
Two buttons under Me, and no step where you ask us.
Under Me, “Export everything” hands you the lot as one file, through your phone's share sheet, so it lands in Files or wherever you point it. It's yours, in a form another app can read.
“Delete everything” wipes your phone's copy and the locked copy on our server in one go. The usage numbers stay, because they're our business records.
You can also delete one thing at a time.
Who else touches your information
The list, and we keep it right.
These are the companies whose computers your information passes through or sits on, what each one gets, and what it does with it. If a name is added or dropped, this list changes and the date at the bottom of the page moves.
| Who | What they do | What they get | How long they keep it | Where |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Anthropic | The model your Agent thinks with (Claude) | The words for the one job: what you put down, your pages, the conversation, photos you've shown it | Up to 30 days. Up to two years if their safety checks flag it. Never used for training | United States |
| Cloudflare | Runs Neuro Support's relay between your phone and the services here, and holds the locked copy | Your words pass through the relay and aren't written down. The locked copy, which they can't open. Usage numbers | The relay keeps nothing. The locked copy until you delete it. The numbers as business records | Cloudflare picks the data centre, not guaranteed NZ or Australia |
| Deepgram, run on Cloudflare | Turns your voice into words when you talk | The recording of what you said, and the names you've taught your Agent so they're spelled right | Nothing kept, nothing used for training | Not stated by Cloudflare |
| Apple | The App Store, TestFlight while it's in testing, and your subscription | Your Apple ID and what you bought. We never see your card. On the phone: your calendar if you allow it, timers and nudges as notifications, all on the device | Apple's own terms | Apple's |
| Google, only if you paste a Google Calendar address | Your own calendar | The relay fetches your private calendar address when the app asks | The relay keeps nothing. Google's own terms for your calendar | Google's |
| Google (Workspace) | Neuro Support's email | Whatever you email to jamie@neurosupport.co.nz | As long as the email is kept | Google's |
- ElevenLabs (premium voices) reads Neuro Support's own words only: the guide and the app's own lines. Your words don't go there until they sign an agreement with us that keeps nothing and trains on nothing. Until then your Agent speaks in your phone's own voice.
- Google speech is deliberately not used. The in-app mic doesn't use the browser's speech engine, because that engine sends audio to Google.
- No analytics, ad tracking or crash reporting. Nothing in the app reports to Meta, Google Analytics or anyone like them.
- Codemagic builds the app from its code and sends it to Apple. It never sees your information.
- If you're a Neuro Support client as well: Xero holds your invoices (your name, dates, hours and the rate, never what you talked about), and bookings run through our own booking page.
Honest limits, for the app
Three things to know before you rely on it.
- If the law requires it, or someone is at serious risk of harm, Neuro Support may have to share what it holds. What it holds about you is the locked copy it can't open, and the usage numbers. Where we can, we'll talk to you first.
- Our relay and the locked copy run on Cloudflare's servers. Cloudflare picks the data centre, and it isn't guaranteed to be in New Zealand or Australia.
- If you lose your phone and haven't exported, what was on it is gone. We can't bring it back, because we can't open the copy. Export now and then.
Your rights, in the app
Most of it is under Me, faster than we could reply.
You can ask what Neuro Support holds about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. That's your right under New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 and the Health Information Privacy Code 2020. For anything the app doesn't cover, email jamie@neurosupport.co.nz and you'll get a personal reply, usually within two business days.
If something your Agent did seems wrong, tell Jamie. You choose whether to attach what it did. If a concern needs to go beyond Jamie, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner looks after New Zealand privacy law, and the Health and Disability Commissioner looks after your rights as someone using a support service.
Honest limits
What we don't claim, even though it would be nice to.
- Confidentiality has limits. If the law requires it, or someone is at serious risk of harm, Jamie may have to share information. Where he can, he'll talk to you about it first.
- We don't promise absolute privacy. Email, calendars and video calls all run on other companies' services. Anyone who promises absolute privacy on top of that is either confused or misleading you.
When you're working on someone's behalf
Your access goes through the client, not around them.
If you're a funder, NASC or support coordinator working with a Neuro Support client, here's what to know.
The client owns their information. You don't get automatic access to it. Sharing is the client's choice.
The client can say yes or no at any time. Consent is specific and can be taken back.
For funded support, invoicing and scope, see the funder page. Anything that needs client-specific information goes through the client first.
If you have a privacy concern about a Neuro Support client, the right first step is usually a conversation with the client. If that isn't possible, email Jamie directly.
Leaving
You can stop any time.
There's no exit fee and no notice period. If you want to come back later, that's fine.
You can ask Jamie what he holds about you, and ask for it to be corrected. That's your right under New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020. You can also ask for it to be deleted. Invoices are the exception: a business has to keep its financial records for a set time.
