The week the evidence arrived

A weekly note from the Neuro Support build. What shifted, what we noticed, where the work is going.

The wiki itself

Code on a screen, abstract, the texture of structure.

R&D pages started landing this week. The first three — llm-wiki-pattern.md, context-engineering-vs-rag.md, managed-agents-and-karpathy-wiki.md — named what the wiki was, where it came from, and what made it work. Karpathy's three-layer pattern (raw → wiki → schema) was anchored explicitly. Context engineering was named as the successor to RAG for bounded document sets the operator owns end-to-end.

The wiki had been a working artefact since Day 1. Naming what it was made it a load-bearing one. By week's end the wiki-evidence-log.md had started — a running tally of moments where the structure caught, prevented, or produced something a chat-only workflow wouldn't have.

Naming the wiki made the wiki a tool. Until you name it, it's just a folder.

The cross-disability case

Lake Tekapo at dusk, mountains in the distance, the horizon wide.

Concept 24 — Beyond Neurodivergence — landed on 11 April. The Neuro Agent's two core mechanisms (externalised memory and voice-first action) generalise to any condition where working memory, time awareness, or context retention is impaired. Acquired brain injury. Intellectual disability. Dementia. Long COVID. Chronic fatigue. Depression. Anxiety. PTSD. The voice-first capture pathway extends to any motor or fatigue limitation that makes typing costly.

This wasn't a pivot. It was a reading of what was already built. The first market would be ADHD because that was where the lived experience pointed. Other markets would be reached by other founders whose lived experience pointed there — the licensing model was sketched as Stage 2.

Built for ADHD. Useful wherever the same deficit lives.

Prosthetic memory

Conrad von Soest, Brillenapostel (1403) — the earliest pictorial evidence of eyeglasses in European art, an apostle reading with cognitive aid.

Concept 23 named the metaphor: prosthetic memory. Glasses were built for people who couldn't see; everyone with tired eyes uses them. The Neuro Agent is a cognitive artifact that transforms hard cognitive tasks into easier ones. Norman's framework. Barkley's externalisation grounding. The metaphor that holds whether the audience is a prospect, a funder, or a researcher.

Externalised executive function system is the clinical register. Agent Memory — still a few days away from being named — would become the experiential register. Both stayed.

A cognitive prosthetic doesn't make you faster at thinking. It moves the thinking outside.

The MVP gates

The Pont du Gard Roman aqueduct (1st century AD) — three tiers of arches, gates the architecture passes through.

Implementation 51 set the readiness gates that had to close before the first pilot client. Six gates, each with explicit closure criteria. Implementation 52 and 53 followed with the technical resolution of Gate 2 (live data freshness, ~1 minute, hybrid Live Tier formula plus Cloudflare Worker).

The discipline mattered more than the gates. A sole trader without a manager needs an external thing to cross before the next thing happens. The wiki started carrying that role: gates filed, status visible, dependencies mapped.

The gates were the manager Jamie didn't have.

What's next

Week 4 brought the heuristics — twenty-one numbered operating rules in a single day, plus Agent Memory the brand metaphor that carries the product, plus the Library architecture (Support and Home) that would run the privacy posture in code.

The wiki was about to become the project's discipline.
